A hilarious incident occurred during the first ODI between India and New Zealand when the two teams locked horns at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. With KL Rahul missing the series, Ishan Kishan was handed the wicketkeeping duties, and the youngster was seen having some fun behind the stumps while defending the total in the second innings.
When Kiwi skipper Tom Latham was on strike in the 16th over of the second innings, Ishan Kishan disrupted the bails when Kuldeep Yadav delivered the ball, and appealed for a hit-wicket. The on-field umpires immediately consulted the third umpire and asked for a review and it was correctly ruled not out.
When the whole scene was played on the big screen, it came to notice that Kishan had dislodged the bails and then appealed for a wicket. The move may have been in retaliation to what Latham did in the first innings. Latham had pulled off something similar when the Men in Blue were batting in the first innings, which also led to Hardik Pandya’s controversial wicket. Latham repeated the action when Shubman Gill had been on strike.
After looking at the replay of the entire scene, Ishan Kishan burst into laughter, and could not control his laugh for the next few deliveries thinking of the moment. Latham was well within the crease when he dislodged the bails, but he got the umpires thinking upon the same, and the entire scene had to be reviewed.

Shubman Gill's 208 powers India to 349
Speaking of the game, Shubman Gill’s magnificent double-century prompted India to a humungous total of 349/8. The opening batter played almost the entire innings and was dismissed only off the second ball of the final over of the innings. His 149-ball 208 handed India an upper hand at the end of the innings as they set a 350-run target for the visitors to chase.
With the knock, Gill went on to become only the fifth Indian batter to score a double century in ODIs. He also became the fastest Indian player to score 1000 ODI runs in terms of innings, achieving the feat in 19 innings.
