The second match of the five-match T20I series was played at St George's Park, in Gqeberha, where South African captain Aiden Markram won the toss and elected to bowl first. 

India's innings got off to a disastrous start with openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill getting out within the first two overs, leaving the team with only six runs on the board. However, Tilak Varma and captain Suryakumar Yadav then put together a fifty-run partnership to stabilize the Indian innings.

Later on, Rinku Singh stepped onto the crease with Surya, and together, they dominated the South African bowlers, forging a vital 70-run partnership. Surya departed after an impressive 56 off 36 balls, but Rinku continued his onslaught, remaining unbeaten at 68 off 39 to guide India to a total of 180/7 in 19.3 overs. Ravindra Jadeja also made a quick contribution with 19 off 14 balls before rain intervened.

Due to the rain, the match's playing conditions were revised, and South Africa were given a target of 152 to chase in 15 overs, as per the DLS method.

In pursuit of the target in the second game of the series, Proteas openers Reeza Hendricks and Matthew Breetzke started aggressively, accumulating 42 runs in the first three overs. Although Breetzke was run out, Reeza was then joined by Markram, and together, they added 54 runs swiftly to keep the Proteas' chase on track. Reeza fell short of his half-century, being dismissed at 49. Towards the end, David Miller and Tristan Stubbs secured a five-wicket victory for South Africa with a solid partnership for the fifth wicket. This win gave South Africa a 1-0 lead in the series.
