A revitalised Australian side continued their domination on day two of the fourth Test against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. They resumed their innings from 255/4 with Usman Khawaja unbeaten on 104 and Cameron Green on 49*.
The duo continued with their 85-run partnership at the time and started the day on a positive note. Khawaja held one end while Green kept looking for opportunities to take the score ahead. Khawaja continued his marathon knock and reached his 150-mark in the first session while Green came close to his century as Australia took Lunch at 347/4.
In the second session, Green brought up his first-ever Test hundred as Australia continued to pile up runs and add pressure on India. The duo went on to add 208 runs for the fifth wicket before Ravichandran Ashwin gave India their first strike of the day, dismissing Green for 114.
Following his dismissal, Ashwin sparked a collapse as he further dismissed Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc cheaply. Axar Patel got the big fish as he trapped Usman Khawaja in front of the stumps in the third session. The southpaw departed for a brilliant 180 leaving Australia on 409/8.
With just two wickets to go, India hoped to wrap things up quickly and dismiss Australia for under 430. However, Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy made Indian bowlers toil hard in the field with their 70-run stand. The partnership was broken by Ashwin who picked up the last two wickets as Australia were all out for 480.
