Punjab Kings (PBKS) speedster Arshdeep Singh annihilated Mumbai Indians (MI) in the final over of the contest to secure the win for his side in the thrilling affair. Notably, the left-arm pacer got two wickets on the trot, ripping the stumps apart on both occasions during the final over against the home side.

Mumbai had an uphill task during their chase as they required 215 to win the contest. Moreover, pacer Arshdeep handed an early blow as he dismissed explosive hitter Ishan Kishan in the second over to keep MI reeling in the chase. However, Mumbai clawed their way back into the contest after scintillating efforts from skipper Rohit Sharma (44 runs), star all-rounder Cameron Green (67 runs) and Suryakumar Yadav, who played a quick fire 26-ball 57 knock.

Despite the impressive efforts, it was young Arshdeep, who proved his mettle as the match came down to the wire. Needing 16 runs off six balls, stand-in skipper Sam Curran handed the responsibility to the 24-year-old pacer. Arshdeep gave a single off the first ball and followed it with a dot on the next.

It was the third and fourth deliveries that he turned the game on its head and dazzled with the ball. Up against Tilak Varma, Arshdeep bowled a full-length delivery, which came crashing into the middle stump, breaking it into two pieces.

The following delivery was a searing yorker, which once again broke the middle stump in the high-voltage final over to send Impact Player Nehal Wadhera packing. Eventually, the pacer restricted Mumbai to just two runs off the over and won the game for Punjab. Notably, Arshdeep returned a four-wicket haul in his four overs for mere 29 runs to take the first place in the leading wicket-taker’s list with 13 scalps.

Meanwhile, Punjab Kings will next face Lucknow Super Giants on April 28 and will be gunning to keep their momentum intact in the league.
