Match No. 15 of the Indian Premier League 2023 produced a last-ball thriller for the fans at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru where Lucknow Super Giants clinched victory by just one wicket on the ultimate delivery of the game. The match produced several talking points throughout its course but Harshal Patel missing the chance to run out the batter on the non-striker’s end became the talk of the town.

After a lot of drama unfolded during the final overs of the game between RCB and LSG, the equation boiled down to the visitors needing one run off the last ball of the match. Patel, who had the ball in hand, held his nerves to not miss out on any chance and tried to run out Ravi Bishnoi out on the non-striker’s end but missed the bails. However, during his second attempt, there was another twist and the pacer’s appeal was denied because he had already completed his action and was out of the crease when he attempted the throw.

Though Bishnoi backed too much, Patel couldn’t make it to his advantage due to the rules which allow the bowler to run out the non-striker before completing his action and being inside the crease. As the Gujarat cricketer failed in his actions, the LSG side snatched a run on the final ball and won a thriller against the home side.

Nicholas Pooran rises for Lucknow in crunch moments

On the back of the brilliant fifties from RCB's top-order, LSG had a target of 213 runs in hand where quick wickets of Kyle Mayers, Deepak Hooda, and Krunal Pandya dimmed their confidence. However, Nicholas Pooran had different intentions on the day and showed nerves of steel to fly high in Bengaluru as he smashed 62 off 19 to give nightmares to host bowlers. After Pooran lost his wicket, Ayush Badoni did much of a task while adding 30 off 24 as Lucknow grabbed a win by one wicket on the ultimate delivery of the match.
