IPL 2024: Top 10 Memes from MI vs DC, Match 20

Mumbai Indians played host to Delhi Capitals in the Match 20 of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 7. DC won the crucial toss and opted to bowl first. MI openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan provided them a solid start. After smashing six boundaries and three sixes, Rohit departed for a well-made 49 off 27 balls. Kishan took matters into his own hands and started to accelerate.

The comeback man, Suryakumar Yadav did not open his account and fell victim to Anrich Nortje. Kishan was joined by Hardik Pandya and the former was dismissed Axar Patel for 42 off 23. Pandya however, continued his abysmal strike rate and walked back after an arduous 39 off 33. Tristan Stubbs showed intent after the departure of the skipper and Tilak Verma had one run to contribute. But it was Romario Shepherd who stole the show.

Coming into bat at number seven, he faced just 10 deliveries. Nortje walked in to bowl the 20th over and he was taken to cleaners by the Caribbean. The right-handed batter unleashed mayhem as he hit the leather all over the park. He hit two boundaries and a commendable four sixes off the Proteas pacer and convoluted proceedings for DC. MI posted a very proactive 234 runs on the board.

Tristan Stubbs started building up the innings again and got no support from the other end.

Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel trudged back after scoring one and eight respectively. With 34 needed off the final over DC aimed to do the undoable. Gerald Coetzee, bowling the final over showcased utmost precision as he Lalit Yadav and Kumar Kushagra off successive deliveries and later picked Jhye Richardson’s wicket. He gave away just four runs and MI won their maiden IPL 2024 game by 29 runs. Tristan Stubbs remained unbeaten after scoring 71 off 25.
