Royal Challengers Bengaluru clashed with Lucknow Super Giants in Match 15 of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Tuesday. RCB won the toss and elected to bowl first on the pitch that was termed patchy by Faf du Plessis and two-paced during the pitch reports. LSG were off to a brisk start as Quinton de Kock struck three boundaries of Reece Topley’s over. On the other hand, KL Rahul played some aggressive shots before getting dismissed off Glenn Maxwell for 20 runs.

By the time, LSG had put 53 runs on board within the Powerplay. Devdutt Padikkal went as quick as he came on the field. Marcus Stoinis played a 24-run cameo and de Kock perished after playing a sublime knock of 81 runs. Nicholas Pooran looked at his best as he scored 40 off 21, in that course he also completed his 100 sixes in IPL. As a result, LSG posted an above-par 181 losing 5 wickets for RCB to chase.

RCB looked to capitalise on the powerplay, but du Plessis fell victim to a brilliant run-out by Padikkal as the RCB skipper tried to steal a single. Virat Kohli gave Manimaran Siddharth the joy of his life as the former became his first scalp of IPL. Rajat Patidar played a slow burner with his 21 balled 29 runs and RCB could not recover post that. The young pace sensation of LSG, Mayank Yadav rattled their middle order.

Yadav picked Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green in quick successions, and he conceded just 14 runs and snared 3 wickets. Mahipal Lomror came all guns blazing, but had to vacate after Yash Thakur claimed him via Pooran. RCB’s designated finisher, Dinesh Karthik, ended his eight-ball stay in a hurry as Anuj Rawat and Mayank Dagar too followed suit. Though Mohammed Siraj struck two consecutive sixes off Ravi Bishnoi at death, RCB were behind as LSG emerged victorious by 28 runs.
