The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League concluded with MS Dhoni's side lifting their fifth IPL title after edging past Gujarat Titans in a thrilling final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Following his side's narrow victory, iconic CSK skipper MS Dhoni has vowed to return for one more season to thank the fans for their unrelenting support.

It is not often that former Indian skipper MS Dhoni lets out his emotions but the occasion of CSK's fifth title even got the better of 'Captain Cool' who embraced Ravindra Jadeja after the Indian all-rounder's heroics with the bat. Following that cathartic moment, the legendary cricketer vowed to come back next year as a parting gift to the fans for the love and support he received from all around the country.

MS Dhoni joins Rohit Sharma as the most successful skipper in IPL history

The iconic skipper joins Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma as the most successful captain in the history of the competition, both with five IPL trophies as captain of their respective sides. Dhoni, in an interaction with Harsha Bhogle at the post-match presentation ceremony, said he is hoping to thank the fans for their support by returning to the competition one last time next season.

However, he did mention that a lot will depend on his physical condition and he will have 6-7 months to decide on his future. While his statement received huge roars from the crowd in Ahmedabad, the 41-year-old has struggled with a knee issue recently, casting doubt on his involvement in next year's tournament.
