'It's what makes Test cricket great' - John Wright's fitting reply to Ian Healy's ‘unfair Indian pitches' remark

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is right around the corner as the Indian team gears up to take on Australia in the first of the four Tests in Nagpur on February 9. Former Australian skipper Steve Smith recently came forward to comment on ‘irrelevant’ Indian pitches while speaking on his team's decision to not play tour matches before the series.

With less than a week left for the commencement of the four-match Test series, former Australian cricketer Ian Healy also came forward to take a dig at the BCCI and talked about Australia's chances, given India manages to produce "fair wickets."

"I think if they produce fair Indian wickets, that are good batting wickets, to start with, (that) probably spin and spin pretty consistently but spin a long way, late in the match … we (Australia) win. I'm worried about Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon in the first test... If they're unfair wickets, which I've seen in the last series, where balls were jumping ridiculously and sliding down low from day one, I think India plays those conditions better than us," Healy said while talking to SENQ Breakfast.

After Ravichandran Ashwin branded Steve Smith’s comments on the Indian pitches as mind games that the Aussies like to play before every big series, former Indian coach John Wright took to Twitter to give a befitting reply to Healy’s comments as well.

"Countries playing at home are entitled to produce pitches to suit their own team. That's not unfair it's what makes Test cricket great #INDvsAUS #ianhealy," Wright tweeted.

Both the Indian side and Australia have their focus set on the World Test Championship final spot as they prepare for the first Test in Nagpur. India stands second in the WTC points table and will have to win a minimum of two matches in the series to book a spot in the final. If Australia manage to draw the series 2-2, or avoid a 0-3 loss, they will make it to the WTC Final.
