Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) introduced their newest addition to the family ahead of their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Thursday, April 6. The Kolkata-based franchise introduced a mascot to cheer for the side in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The two-time IPL winners added ‘Kay the Knight’, a mascot to their family, who will be seen in action in their forthcoming clash against RCB at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. KKR took to their social media to share the news on their new member who will cheer for the franchise and keep fans entertained throughout the season.

“The Knight Mascot - our newest addition to the #KnightRidersFamily! Catch him in action at tonight’s game at Eden Gardens! #AmiKKR #KKR #TATAIPL2023,” captioned KKR on their Instagram account.

KKR aim for first points in IPL 2023

KKR have got off to a decent start against RCB in match no. 9 with openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Venkatesh Iyer swiftly hitting the ground running. However, David Willey struck twice on the trot, dismissing Venkatesh and Mandeep Singh within five overs of the game to help RCB keep momentum on their side.

Speaking about their campaign thus far, Nitish Rana and Co. were handed a defeat at the hands of Punjab Kings in a rain-curtailed encounter in their first game. On the other hand, Faf du Plessis’ Royal Challengers kickstarted their campaign brilliantly with a comprehensive win against Mumbai Indians.

Though KKR are without their regular skipper Shreyas Iyer, the side appears formidable on paper and will need to up the ante to win games.

Going by the venue stats, teams batting first at the Eden Gardens usually prevail and KKR will need to take this to their advantage in order to obtain their first points in the top-tier league. It remains to be seen if the Rana-led Kolkata can put up a competitive total or if Bangalore claim their second victory of the ongoing season.
