Virat Kohli registered his first international century after an interlude of almost three years in India's final game of the 2022 Asia Cup against Afghanistan. India completed a comprehensive victory as the former Indian skipper registered his first T20I century in the process. The scintillating century is believed to have relieved a massive weight from Kohli's shoulder, who shared a throwback picture from his childhood days on Saturday evening.

Kohli rocked and rolled in front of a handful of Indian fans in Dubai and compiled a sizzling ton to end his century drought in international cricket. His rollicking knock of unbeaten 122 runs in just 61 deliveries propelled India to an unassailable score of 212 runs, which proved to be too much for the Afghan batters.

The trailblazing batter was the most relieved man on the pitch after his century and shared a smile followed by a peal of kid-like laughter as he was surprised himself to have registered a ton in the shortest format of the game after a hiatus. Kohli shared a witty story via his Instagram handle with a picture from his childhood days where he can be seen enjoying his food at a party of sorts.

Virat Kohli congratulated Aaron Finch on his career after ODI retirement

Earlier today, Australian T20I skipper Aaron Finch dropped a bombshell by announcing his retirement from ODI cricket. His decision was influenced by the horrid run of form with the bat in the 50-over format since the turn of the year.

He will play his last ODI against the Kiwis in the ongoing Chappell-Hadlee series in Cairns. Kohli, who shared the dressing room with the Aussie at RCB, congratulated him on an illustrious career and suggested enjoying the next phase of his life.

"Well done finchy. It was great to play against you all these years and with you as well at rcb. Enjoy the next phase of your life to the fullest," said Kohli in his comment on Finch's Instagram post.
