In Match 67 of IPL 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener Jason Roy fumed after his innings was drawn to a conclusion by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Krunal Pandya during the high-voltage contest. The incident occurred during the final ball of the 10th over while KKR were on course to chase LSG’s competitive first-innings score of 176 runs.

In the sixth ball of the 10th over, Krunal kept the ball low on a short length, sticking to the middle line. However, as it straightened after pitching, the ball zipped quickly and brushed onto the stumps, thereby dismissing the KKR batter.

Jason, who appeared solid with his quickfire knock of 45 off 28 balls, was seen fuming following the dismissal as he headed back to the pavilion. His blazing knock, amassed at a strike rate of 160.71, included seven boundaries and one six. With his dismissal, KKR were reduced to 82/3, losing three wickets for just 21 runs.

LSG seal berth in Eliminator

The visiting team clawed their way back into the contest after getting wickets at regular intervals. In doing so, they reduced KKR to 136/7 and firmed their grip on the hosts.

However, down the middle order, Rinku Singh came in and nearly blew the rival side with his blitzkrieg. The explosive southpaw cracked four maximums and six fours in his unbeaten knock of 67 off 33 balls at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 203.03.

Taking the match down to the wire, Rinku tried hard to keep the runs flowing, but it seemed exceedingly challenging for him to execute that. LSG eventually won the contest narrowly by a run, thereby cementing their berth in the Eliminator of the playoffs. The side will lock horns with either Royal Challengers Bangalore or Mumbai Indians on Wednesday, May 24 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
