With the end of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 rapidly approaching, many players of the Indian team have started leaving in batches for the upcoming World Test Championship final, where India locks horns with Australia at the Oval from June 7.
With the likes of Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur already having reached London, ace batter Virat Kohli was the latest of the bunch to reach the destination. The 34-year-old took to Instagram to share a picture of himself in his story and captioned it, "London Mornings." In the picture, Kohli was seen smiling for the camera as he enjoyed his time in London before getting the preparations started for the clash against Australia.
With the WTC final just a few days away, India will be accelerating their preparations in the quest for their first ICC title since 2013. With many star players beginning to gather in England, the entire squad would be expected to be together by May 31.
Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel were amongst the first players to leave for England
The Indian players, whose IPL teams did not qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament, were among the first to leave for England to begin their preparations for the WTC final. Recently, Shardul Thakur also posted a picture on his Instagram story as he left for England.
Furthermore, star all-rounder Axar Patel was captured with the team’s staff on the flight to London. The rest of the players are expected to arrive in London in the coming days as well.
Australia, who are playing their first WTC final, would look to fire as they would have the upper hand in the summit clash, considering the injuries that several Indian players have sustained in recent months. Most notably, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer are some of the players who will miss the WTC final.
