The IPL 2023 final between defending champions Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings was delayed by a day after persistent rain on Sunday, May 28, pushing the summit clash to the reserved day. While the fans had to return empty-handed on the day, former Chennai Super Kings opener Matthew Hayden labelled the fans as the 'best' after they were seen travelling through waterlogged roads outside the venue.

Former Australian cricketer and batting legend Matthew Hayden is renowned for his unfiltered comments and biased views on his former franchise Chennai Super Kings. Hayden, who is currently on commentary duties for the ongoing 16th edition of the Indian Premier League, was touched by the hardship fans had to endure after the rescheduling of the summit clash.

The ex-cricketer turned commentator lavished praise on the supporters who turned up in numbers at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to back their respective teams. The burly Aussie put out an Instagram story, highlighting the troubles of the fans while travelling through waterlogged streets, hailing them as the best fanbase in the world.

CSK fans spent the night at Ahmedabad railway station after the IPL final was rescheduled

While the fans gathered at the venue from around the country, rescheduling the IPL 2023 final wasn't kind to most spectators as they failed to get accommodations in the city. A group of Chennai Super Kings fans, who had travelled to watch MS Dhoni guide their side to a fifth IPL title, were seen sleeping on the floor of a railway station in Ahmedabad.

The IPL officials tried their best to commence the action on Sunday itself, but their patience eventually rain out after persistent rain left too much work for the groundsmen at the venue. An official statement was made by IPL officials around 11 PM on Sunday, announcing the rescheduling of the final to the reserve day.
