Tennis star player Roger Federer bid adieu to his sensational career on September 23 (Friday) after losing a doubles match in the Laver Cup to Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe of Team World. While Federer got emotional during his farewell, sitting beside him, Rafael Nadal also cried as his greatest rival and an off-court great friend signed off.
The photo of the iconic duo is being widely shared on social media platforms with several prominent sportspersons wishing their best to the legend of the game. Meanwhile, England's pacer Stuart Broad has come up with a cheeky reaction to the viral photo.
Stuart Broad puts a funny story on his Instagram account
The senior pacer from England took to Instagram and shared the iconic photo of Federer and Nadal, as he wrote 'Me when @jimmy (James Anderson) retires in 2053.
Both Anderson and Broad have been an integral part of the English squad, especially in the Test format. While Anderson is at the top of the charts in scalping most wickets by a pacer in Test cricket, he is followed by his bowling partner and friend Broad.
The veteran duo played a vital role in Three Lion's victory over South Africa in the three-match Test series played recently. Both Anderson and Broad have been quite vocal on representing their national side ahead as well and seem in no mood of taking retirement from the game soon.
Meanwhile, team India star batter Virat Kohli penned a heartwarming note for Federer who made his last appearance on the tennis court on September 23.
“Who thought rivals can feel like this towards each other. That’s the beauty of sport. This is the most beautiful sporting picture ever for me. When your companions cry for you, you know why you’ve been able to do with your god given talent. Nothing but respect for these 2. @rogerfederer @rafaelnadal,” Virat Kohli captioned the emotional picture of Federer and Nadal which went viral as the game ended.
