Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his sensational show in international cricket on Saturday, August 12 as he notched up his maiden T20I half century and helped India chase down 179 in 17 overs. The southpaw played a magnificent knock of 84* (51) smashing 11 fours and three sixes in his innings as India won the fourth T20I against West Indies by nine wickets.

Following his Player of the Match performance, Jaiswal got special praise from former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif who complimented his ability to shift gears according to format. It was Jaiswal’s second Player of the Match award in four international games that he’s played so far.

Kaif took to X and wrote, “Yashasvi Jaiswal's strength is his ability to change gears according to format. That's what batsmen have to do in future. Adaptability with great temperament brings success.”

Notably, Jaiswal began his innings in explosive fashion as he outscored his opening partner Shubman Gill during the powerplay. However, once Gill set his eye in, Jaiswal happily played the second fiddle in the partnership and let him do the bulk of the scoring. Furthermore, when Gill got dismissed, Jaiswal took the onus upon himself to take the team home and finished the job for the side.

Gill and Jaiswal levelled highest opening partnership for India

Gill and Jaiswal were involved in a massive 165-run partnership off 93 balls for the first wicket and registered the joint-highest opening partnership for India in T20Is. Gill played a brilliant innings of 77 off 47 balls clobbering three fours and five sixes and finally found his form after single-digit scores in the first three matches.

Meanwhile, India will be eager to seal the series as they once again prepare themselves to lock horns with West Indies in the fifth T20I on Sunday, August 13 at the same venue. The five-match series is tied 2-2 after India made a remarkable comeback from being 0-2 down after the first two games. The Hardik Pandya-led side will be eager to continue their unbeaten record against West Indies since 2018.
