Indian speedster Mohammed Shami was expected to take part in the recently-concluded three match T20I series against Australia until he was tested Covid positive. The 32-year-old has been named in the standbys for the T20 World Cup 2022 squad however, his travel to Australia for the mega ICC event remains in jeopardy as he is yet to test negative for the virus. The fans are eagerly waiting to see him back in the Indian colours after the poor show from India’s young bowling group in the Asia Cup 2022.

In the meantime, Shami who is not commonly associated with social media posts came up with an amusing reel on his current situation. Although he is desperate to test negative and be back on the field, the seamer is still unsure of his return and he saw the funny side of his problem. He highlighted the question from the fans who have been asking “Covid positive result Kab Negative Hoga?”

He captioned in the reel with his response being ‘Mujhe Nahi Pata hai’ and included a trending Bollywood song in the background. The reel went viral on social media and captured a lot of attention.

Meanwhile, Shami’s replacement in the Australia series, Umesh Yadav has continued to travel with the India team for the South Africa T20I series which clearly concludes that the former is yet to recover. The first of the three T20Is starts at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday (September 28) and the fans in the city have gone crazy outside the stadium to witness the Indian side.

A call on Shami is expected to be taken before the Indian team travels to Australia, and it will be a huge miss if the experienced-lad does not make it in time. Although he last played the format in the T20 World Cup 2021, skipper Rohit Sharma was quite confident about Shami’s skillset and backed him to come into the side straightaway once he is fit without game time.
