To fine-tune their skills for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup, the Nepal senior men's cricket team is all set to tour India for a T20 tri-series. Organized by the Board of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI), the tournament is named the 'Friendship Cup', which aims to strengthen Nepal Cricket.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) recently announced its plans for a tri-series against the Baroda Cricket Association and Gujarat Cricket Association. Scheduled to begin on March 31, the tournament will witness Nepal facing off against Gujarat in the opening encounter, with the final game slated to take place on April 7.
Nepal to play a T20 tri-series in India
In an official statement, CAN expressed their delight in announcing the Friendship Cup T20 tri-series, emphasizing the participation of the men’s cricket teams of Nepal, Gujarat, and Baroda. The event is set to take place at the Sai Meghpan Sporrtslife (SMS) facilities in Vapi. Moreover, the Friendship Cup isn't just a one-time affair; it is envisioned as an annual fixture.

The timing of the tri-series couldn't be more perfect for Nepal, as they are gearing up for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to be held in the US and West Indies in June. Having already qualified for the event, Nepal is keen on utilizing the tri-series as a platform to hone their skills and gain valuable exposure against the formidable state teams of BCCI. Nepal is positioned in Group D in the T20 World Cup alongside cricketing powerhouses like Bangladesh, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the Netherlands.
