Former South Africa cricketer AB de Villiers is enjoying his time off the field after announcing his retirement from all forms of cricket in 2021. De Villiers is counted among the greatest batters of the modern era and was recently honoured by the IPL (Indian Premier League) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the 2023 season.

Recently, the 39-year-old has been compared with Australian batter Travis Head in terms of looks as the fans find the duo resembling each other. De Villiers was recently asked about the same by a fan and he had a hilarious reply.

“I don’t know if Travis Head looks like me. He played with me in RCB and no one ever mentioned that to me and why now? Why do I have to deal with that now?,” de Villiers said in ‘AB de Villiers 360’ show on his YouTube channel.

The Pretoria-born cricketer also replied to a fan query asking him to come out of retirement to play in the ODI World Cup 2023, scheduled to be played in India from October 5.

“I’m not going to come out of retirement, unfortunately. You see I’m playing guitar now, I’ve to entertain you people with some beautiful music and some nonsense that I talk on this channel. It’s unfortunately not for me,” he added.

De Villiers wanted to come out of retirement to play in ODI World Cup 2019

Notably, the legendary South African cricketer announced his retirement from international cricket back in 2018 just a year ahead of the world cup. However, after the end of the ODI World Cup 2019, reports emerged that he was willing to come out of retirement to play for the country. However, his request was denied by the selectors.

Following the reports, de Villiers clarified that he had promised the board at the time of his retirement that he would be available for selection if the team needs him. Notably, South Africa had a forgettable outing in the World Cup as they finished in the seventh spot on the points table with three wins from nine matches.
