In the 24th match of the ODI World Cup 2023, Australia and the Netherlands faced off at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, in New Delhi. Australia won the toss and opted to bat first. Australia had a shaky start to their innings when opener Mitchell Marsh fell early, dismissed by Logan van Beek. But then, David Warner, with his beautiful strokes and cautious approach, took centre stage alongside Steve Smith.

As they settled in, the duo began to play their attacking shots, putting the Dutch bowlers under immense pressure. The result was a remarkable 132-run partnership for the second wicket. However, Smith's innings came to a halt when he was caught brilliantly by van der Merwe off Aryan Dutt. But there was no stopping the Australian onslaught.

Marnus Labuschagne joined Warner and played a quick-fire innings of 62 runs off just 47 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. On the other end, Warner was in sublime form, eventually reaching a brilliant century before being dismissed for 104 off 93 balls. And then came the man of the moment, the explosive Glenn Maxwell.

From the very first ball, he took on the Dutch bowlers, hammering them relentlessly. He broke records and reached the fastest century in World Cup history, achieving the milestone in just 40 balls. His knock of 106 runs off 44 balls featured nine fours and eight sixes. His inning helped the Aussies to reach 399 in their allocated 50 overs.

Adam Zampa's brilliant leg spin proved too difficult to handle for the Dutch:

In response, the Dutch team struggled against the skilful Australian bowling lineup. They lost their first three wickets within 10 overs with just 47 runs on the board. The Dutch batters could not resist the Australian bowlers and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They were eventually bowled out for just 90 runs, resulting in Australia's biggest win in World Cup history by a margin of 309 runs.

Adam Zampa was the standout performer with the ball, as the Dutch batters looked totally clueless against his brilliant leggies. He took another four-wicket haul in the tournament, while Mitchell Marsh also took two wickets.
