A charismatic mentor in cricket plays a pivotal role in shaping the team's morale and guiding individual players towards excellence. Their presence and wisdom inspire confidence, fostering a culture of resilience and unity within the squad.
One such personality which comes to mind in the realm of cricket is none other than former Indian cricketer, Gautam Gambhir. Known for his tenacity and fearless approach, Gambhir was known to instil a fighting spirit in his team, encouraging players to remain resilient under pressure. His ability to connect with players on a personal level, combined with his passion for nurturing young talent, created an environment where players felt valued and motivated to excel, as could be quite evidently noticed in his seven-year stint with the franchise as skipper, making them champions in 2012 and 2014.

In the wake of KKR's booming eight-wicket triumph over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2024, a previous video of Gautam Gambhir speaking to the team during a mid-March practice session at the Eden Gardens has resurfaced on the web. The clip shows Gambhir urging the players to give their best in all areas, beginning that very day. He spoke of the franchise's rich history and the importance of fully backing each player, irrespective of their age or experience, with the ultimate aim of making it to the final on May 26, 2024. The official X handle of the franchise posted a superlative edit of the same shortly after the conclusion of the KKR-SRH clash.

“We start the season from today. Whether it is physically, mentally, or skill-wise, give everything possible. It’s a very, very proud and a successful franchise. You guys are representing a very successful franchise. Make sure you train that way, you play that way, and you carry that attitude on the field. One thing I absolutely believe in is giving all the freedom to the players.
"That is something very important. So people who have played with me, know one thing, that everyone in this group will be treated equally. There’s no senior/junior. No domestic/international, because we have got one mission and that is to win the IPL. So, everyone needs to follow that one simple path. On 26th May, we should be there, giving everything possible. And it starts from today,” the former skipper and current mentor of KKR had said.
