Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has been fined by Punjab Motorway Police for exceeding the speed limit according to Times of Karachi. Notably, this is not the first time when police have stopped Babar Azam’s car. Earlier in the year, he was caught for not having a proper number plate but wasn’t fined any amount. This time, while driving on the highway, Babar exceeded the speed limit and police eventually had to interfere. Notably, the amount has not been made public.

Meanwhile, on the same day, Pakistan cricketers have been issued visas to travel to India for the upcoming ODI World Cup, which is slated to begin on October 5. The team will travel to Dubai in the early hours of September 27 and in the evening, they will reach Hyderabad and will take on New Zealand in a warm-up game at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has previously expressed their disappointment in the delay of the visas and was in constant touch with the International Cricket Council (ICC) in order to solve the situation. However, soon after that, they received the visas and have been cleared to travel to India. Notably, the Afghanistan cricket team received their visas earlier on September 25.

Babar Azam will be under scanner for his Captaincy in upcoming ODI World Cup 2023

When it comes to form, the Men in Green will have to improve significantly. They were below par in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023 and hence, there is a lot of room for improvement. Fakhar Zaman’s form remains a concern while Naseem Shah has been ruled out of the competition due to a shoulder injury. Hasan Ali will be replacing him in the World Cup squad.

Meanwhile, the focus will be on Babar Azam and his captaincy. He has faced a lot of criticism in recent times due to his captaincy and hence, the upcoming tournament may prove to be a make-or-break situation for the 28-year-old. He will also have to step up with the bat as there will be immense pressure on the skipper, especially playing in India.
