Gautam Gambhir took to Twitter to hit back at senior journalist Rajat Sharma who called him out for his fight with Virat Kohli following the clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Match 43 of IPL 2023.

During the match, RCB's Virat Kohli first had an exchange of words with LSG's Afghan import Naveen ul Haq, the reason for which is yet to be disclosed officially. The aggression was then carried beyond the cricketing action as well, as Gambhir got involved in the scene, engaging in a verbal spat with Kohli which caught everyone's attention.

Commenting on that, senior journalist Rajat Sharma called out Gambhir for being 'jealous' of Kohli's popularity and unidirectionally bashed Gambhir for the altercation. Sharma was recorded saying that Kohli has a habit of not tolerating any kind of nonsense and he therefore gave it back to Gambhir. He further went on to say that what Gambhir did during the match was against the spirit of sportsmanship and suited neither a former cricketer nor a Member of Parliament.

At that, Gambhir hit back at Sharma, bringing into the argument his 'fleeing' away from responsibilities, citing pressure. Gambhir took to Twitter to say that Sharma, who had earlier resigned from his Presidential role at Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), was using his PR to sell paid content as concern for cricket.

Rajat Sharma had called DDCA 'chaotic' to resign as its President

Earlier, in November 2019, Rajat Sharma had resigned from the Presidential role of DDCA calling its affairs chaotic. Sharma also said that there were lots of "pulls and pressures" which is why he couldn't work in the organisation.

"I resigned on 16 November from the post of President DDCA for the reasons stated in the letter. I however continued to honour the directions of the ombudsman and later reiterated by the High Court. However, the situation in DDCA is completely chaotic and I find it impossible to continue any further as President," he was reported as saying by The Quint.

Sharma had a tenuous relationship with Secretary Vinod Tihara, who enjoyed a fair share of support within the organisation. After a series of contemplations, Sharma's resignation was finally accepted by Ombudsman Justice (Retd) Badar Durrez Ahmed on November 29, 2019.
