Reports: David Warner joins Dubai Capitals ahead of ILT20 2024

Veteran Australian batter David Warner is reportedly set to explore a new chapter in his franchise league career, as he has to join Dubai Capitals for the upcoming ILT20 2024 season.

Although it was not made clear or officially announced by the franchise that Warner would be joining their squad, they shared a clip on ‘ X’ (formerly Twitter), and all signs indicated the player is the Australian southpaw Warner.

"New Sultan in Dubai Excitement levels are soaring high as we await a legend #CapitalsFam, wrong guesses only," they captioned the post.



It is worth noting that Warner represents Delhi Capitals in the and it has become quite the norm for players to sign for sister franchises with IPL owners' increasing ownership in in different leagues across the globe. 

Speaking of Dubai Capitals’ performance in the ILT20 2023, the side managed to make it to the knockout stages of the competition but crashed out in the Eliminator after losing to MI Emirates. Former Indian batter Yusuf Pathan led Dubai Capitals, but with Warner’s reported entry in the team, things could change on the leadership front. 

Warner had a lacklustre IPL 2023 and the veteran batter has been unable to find his form as of late. The 36-year-old led Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023, and under his leadership, the side failed to make it to the knockout stages of the tournament as they only managed to win five games and lost nine, ending up on the ninth spot in the points table with 10 points in 14 matches. 

Warner did managed to score 516 runs, however, he scored the runs at mediocre strike rate of 131.63, which led him to be the major cause of scrutiny from the pundits.
