Two former Pakistan players came out of their retirement and made themselves available for selections. The reason is the impending ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in the West Indies and United States of America in June. As a result, the National Selection Committee has drafted Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir into the T20 squad for the New Zealand series.

Now the former Pakistan captain, Mohammad Hafeez has shown his remorse regarding the Pakistan Cricket Board’s move. He took to his social media platform and gave a four-word jibe to the selection committee. His recent social media post emphasises the youngster of Pakistan missing out on opportunities due to the likes of Imad and Amir being roped in.

"#RIP Pakistan domestic cricket," Hafeez wrote on X, expressing his disappointment.

Here’s Hafeez’s latest post on ‘X’:

The decision to include Imad and Amir was a straightforward one: Wahab Riaz

Imad is returning after a comprehensive performance in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League 2024. On the other hand, Amir carries a barrage of match-winning performances in the past. The pacer was instrumental in Pakistan’s two of major ICC silverware victories, notably the T20 World Cup 2010 and Champions Trophy 2017. Newly appointed Pakistan team manager, Wahab Riaz stressed the same fact and backed the management’s decision over the inclusion of two veterans.

“The decision to include Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir was a straightforward one, given their availability for selection and considering Haris Rauf's injury and Mohammad Nawaz's current form. Both Amir and Imad possess undeniable match-winning capabilities, and we trust they will consistently deliver strong performances to bolster the team's objectives,” Wahab said in a press conference as quoted by Hindustan Times.
