India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant has been making rapid progress in his recovery after his horrific car crash on December 30, 2022. The 25-year-old was recently spotted at the holy shrine of Badrinath in Uttarakhand. Notably, the star cricketer will be celebrating his birthday on October 04 and hence visited the sacred temple to seek blessings ahead of his big day.

The Haridwar-born cricketer has been going through rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and was even spotted batting a few weeks back. Pant has been a big miss for India this year as he missed out on important tournaments such as ICC World Test Championship final 2023 and the World Cup 2023.

He last played for India vs Bangladesh in December 2022 where he scored 148 runs from three innings at an average of 49.33 and a strike rate of 91.35 with one fifty to his name.

Following the end of the series, he decided to go back to his hometown Roorkee to celebrate New Year with his family. However, on the way, he met with a horrific car accident after he dozed off while sleeping. His car even caught fire and he managed to escape with the help of some locals.

The wicketkeeper batter is likely to take a lot more time to regain full fitness to be able to play again for India. In his place, KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan have been added to India’s World Cup squad for 2023 as wicketkeeper batters.

Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul are India's main wicketkeeper for World Cup 2023

Both players have been in good form this year as Rahul has scored 531 runs from 12 innings at an average of 531 at an average of 66.37 with one hundred and four fifties to his name. On the other hand, Kishan has scored 409 runs in 13 innings at an average of 37.18 and a strike rate of 93.16 with four fifties to his name. The duo will be expected to play a major role with both bat and ball as India begin their World Cup campaign with a game vs Australia on October 08.
