Robin Uthappa impressed with his showing in the Zim Afro T10 league
Being 37 years old, Uthappa showed just what he was made of at the recently concluded Zim Afro T10 League. Representing Harare Hurricanes in the tournament, Uthappa was at his very best in the Eliminator of the tournament.
The side took on Cape Town Samp Army in the Eliminator of the tournament, and Uthappa's marvellous knock was crucial for the side in reaching Qualifier 2 of the competition. Batting first, Cape Town posted a brilliant 145 runs on the board, thanks to Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s unbeaten knock of 62 runs in 26 deliveries.
Chasing the mammoth target of 146 runs in 10 overs, skipper Uthappa stepped up to the occasion and played a knock for the ages. Scoring 88* runs in just 36 deliveries while opening the innings for Harare, Uthappa helped his side chase the target down and progress further into the tournament. However, their dream was cut short by eventual champions Durban Qalandars in Qualifier 2, as they defeated Harare by four wickets to make their way into the summit clash, which they won as well.
