Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson, fresh off his stellar performance in the ODI series against South Africa, was spotted showcasing his football skills at a local tournament in Kerala. The cricketer, who recently notched up his maiden ODI century, seems to be relishing some downtime from the cricketing grind.

A viral video captured Samson exhibiting his adept dribbling skills for Trivandrum in a local sevens tournament. This light-hearted display revealed another side of the player, who has frequently expressed his affection for football. Samson has previously shared that his father was a footballer, having played for the Delhi Police Football Team.

The highlight of Samson's cricketing journey came in the third ODI against South Africa, where he played a stellar innings, scoring 108 off 114 balls with six fours and three sixes. His performance played a crucial role in India clinching the series with a 2-1 margin. Despite his commendable record, Samson has faced challenges in securing a permanent spot in the team.

Discussing his recent success, Samson conveyed that he has been putting in effort, extending beyond the past couple of months. He feels that the ODI format provides an added advantage, offering extra time to comprehend the wicket and the bowler’s mindset. Additionally, batting at the top of the order provides the benefit of those extra 10-20 deliveries.

"Have been working hard, not just for the past couple of months so it’s nice. This format gives you some extra time to understand the wicket and the bowler’s mindset. Batting at the top of the order gives you those 10-20 extra deliveries," Samson said after the third ODI.

Notably, Samson was not included in the squad for the ongoing Test series against South Africa, allowing him some leisure time to engage in his passion for football.
