Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi shared a heartwarming post on his social media for his daughter Aqsa Afridi following her wedding ceremony in Karachi on Friday, July 7. Notably, numerous cricketers of the Pakistan cricket team graced the event.
Taking to his social media handle, Afridi shared a touching post for his daughter on the grand occasion of her wedding.

“Meri pyari beti- it seems like yesterday when I cradled you in my arms - and on that day, I promised myself I would never leave your side. Although you’re about to begin a new chapter in your life, you’ll always have my heart because I’m the man who loved you first. May Allah keep you both under His Divine protection and give you the chance to create a beautiful life together. Ameen,” Afridi tweeted.
Players such as Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Imam ul Haq, Shan Masood, Hassan Ali, Aamir Jamal and Shaheen Shah Afridi, among others graced the event in Karachi.
Notably, pacer Haris Rauf’s wedding reception too was held on Friday, however, the players could not grace the event as they were not allowed to travel to Rawalpindi due to bad weather.
Pakistan gear up for tour of Sri Lanka
Following the ceremony, the players of the national team will travel to Sri Lanka to play two Test matches, scheduled to kickstart on July 16. Notably, the red-ball matches will mark the first series in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle for both teams.
The Men in Green will then turn their attention towards the Asia Cup in which Pakistan will jointly host the event along with Sri Lanka. The ACC event will prove to be a crucial one for the side as they will get to amp up their preparations for the 2023 ODI World Cup, slated to be played in India in October-November 2023. Pakistan will square off against Netherlands in their first match on October 6 in Hyderabad.
