Outside the match, Dhawan took time to interact with fans and pose for selfies along the boundary rope. In the middle of the crowd, a young girl was visibly upset.

It turned out, that the girl was a huge fan of Chris Gayle, the legendary West Indian batter who is also part of the Gujarat Greats team. Unable to get a picture with her idol, the young fan broke into tears. Noticing the girl's grief, Dhawan approached her with a smile and consoled the young fan. The girl, later shared that Shikhar Dhawan had told her there was no point in crying, photos can be taken now and then.

"Rona nahi, aajao photo lelo" (Don't cry, come and take a photo)," said Dhawan to the young sad fan.
