India suffered a painful 209-run loss against Australia in the all-important World Test Championship final, at The Oval, last week. This wasn't India's first loss in the knockouts of ICC events in recent times. After winning the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, India has gone on to lose four ICC finals and as many semi-finals.

India went on to lose the WTC final for the second consecutive time. In 2021, Kane Williamson's New Zealand managed to defeat India by 8 wickets in Southampton. With the string of indifferent performances from India in ICC knockouts, fans are left devasted and in search of answers. One fan, however, had a peculiar take on India's loss. Replying to one of Aakash Chopra's tweets, the Twitter user wrongly mentioned that India never won a cup after the former India opener began commentating.

"India never won a cup since Aakash Chopra became a commentator," the fan wrote on this Twitter handle.

The 45-year-old was quick to point out that India won the 2013 Champions Trophy and the Asia Cup after he started his commentary career. He ended the tweet by sarcastically taking the blame.

"I commentated on the 2013 Champions Trophy. And Asia Cup after that. But I get your point. Somebody has to be blamed for the losses. I will take it 🤗," Chopra said in his reply to the fan.

Team India will start their WTC journey in a new cycle with their Tour of the Caribbean

Meanwhile, the Indian team is currently enjoying a much-needed break after the strenuous IPL season and the subsequent WTC final. Rohit Sharma and Co. will get back on the road in July as they are scheduled to travel to the Caribbean to face the West Indies.

India are scheduled to play two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is on the tour. The first Test will begin on July 12, and will be played in Roseau, Dominica. India will begin their WTC 2023-25 cycle with this series. As per various reports, some of the regular players are set to be rested in the Tests while Hardik Pandya could lead a new-look side in the T20I leg.
