Former India batter Robin Uthappa shared Ravichandran Ashwin’s two-year-old tweet in which the latter spoke highly of Gujarat Titans (GT) batter Sai Sudarshan following his impressive batting exploits in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) in 2021.

Sai Sudharsan was massively praised for his performances in the recently-concluded IPL 2023, especially for his lethal knock in the summit clash against Chennai Super Kings. The left-handed batter clobbered 96 off mere 47 to help his team attain a mammoth 200-plus total.

Uthappa shared one of R Ashwin’s resurfaced tweet in which the latter urged the Tamil Nadu domestic team to take heed of Sudharsan's performances. Uthappa further praised the batter as he stated that he was three-format player.

It is worth mentioning that Sudharsan was acquired by the Titans for his base price of INR 20 lakh. In eight appearances in the IPL 2023, the southpaw accumulated 362 runs at a marvellous average of 51.71, with three fifties.

His spellbinding innings in the finals featured eight fours and six maximums at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 204.25. Despite the brilliant efforts by the young sensation, the franchise did not have a fairytale ending to their campaign.

The 21-year-old scripted history as his 96 is the third-highest individual score in an IPL final, after Shane Watson's 117 in 2018 and Wriddhiman Saha's 115 in 2014. In addition to this, he became the second-youngest player to score a fifty in a summit clash in the history of the league.

Sudharsan was also the third-highest run-getter in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022/23 season. With 610 runs which featured three centuries and two fifties, Sudharsan was only behind N Jagadeesan and Ruturaj Gaikwad in terms of runs scored.
