Day 5 of the World Test Championship final (WTC) 2023 ended in a heartbreak for team India as the Pat Cummins-led Australia won the much-anticipated clash by 209 runs. There was a truckload of different reactions as India lost the title clash, ranging from heartbroken fans to trolls targeting individual players across various social media platforms.

However, among the trolls and fans were also supporters of Pakistan, some of whom were ecstatic over India’s loss in the WTC final. Seeing the Pakistan fans crash the timelines of the Indian fans and cricketers, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan took to Twitter to condemn such behaviour.

"Suddenly all the padosi’s are entering my time line with happiness cos team India lost the WTC FINAL.  I was so right abt them… #grace," Irfan Pathan tweeted.

The tweet was a throwback to the incident which occurred when Pakistan qualified for the 2022 T20I World Cup final. Back then, Pathan lashed out at the Pakistan fans for lacking grace. Furthermore, his tweet in 2022 also saw former Pakistan cricketer Imran Nazir reply to the post, which led to an altercation of sorts.

Australia won the WTC final by 209 runs

Talking about the game, Australia set a target of 444 runs for India to chase down and become champions. However, the Pat Cummins-led side showcased an extraordinary display of bowling on Day 5 to crush all hopes for the Indian team.

Day 4 of the match ended with India having lost three quick wickets as the top order of the side failed to make an impact in the run chase. With Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane on strike, India required 280 runs to win the game on Day 5.

However, the final day got off to the worst of starts for the batting side as Kohli was sent packing by Scott Boland quite early into the day. Furthermore, after Kohli’s dismissal, the rest of the batting line-up could not do much as India were bundled out for 234 runs.
