Pakistani fast bowling sensation Shaheen Afridi has signed for Nottinghamshire for the upcoming edition of the T20 Blast. The two-time champions signed the Pakistani speedster for T20 Blast 2023, joining Colin Munro in the overseas contingent, after failing to make it to the knockout stage last year, the first time since 2015.

Shaheen Afridi guided Lahore Qalandars to their second successive PSL title after a brilliant all-round display in the final against Mohammad Rizwan's Multan Sultans. He was named the player of the match for heroics in the titular clash and finished as the fourth leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 19 scalps to his name.

Afridi, who was rested for Pakistan's recently concluded T20I assignment against Afghanistan, expressed his excitement about joining Nottinghamshire and feels that their brand of cricket suits his bowling.

"Notts play an aggressive brand of cricket, which suits me well. They've had great success in recent years and the likes of Alex Hales, Colin Munro and Joe Clarke are players I have faced up against in recent years and been impressed by,” Afridi was quoted as saying.

It's definitely an exciting move for me, and one I'm looking forward to: Afridi

The Pakistani pacer, who turns 23 in the coming days, signed for the Welsh Fire for the upcoming edition of the Hundred last week. Although he acknowledges playing at Trent Bridge can be tough for pacers, he feels ready for the challenge and wishes to influence the game with his line and lengths.

"The goal is obviously to influence games to make the team as successful as possible. Having played at Trent Bridge, I know it is a fast-scoring ground and as a bowler, you need to get your line and lengths right, but you also get the rewards when you do that. It's definitely an exciting move for me, and one I'm looking forward to," Afridi added.
