Wishes poured in for Saurashtra skipper Jaydev Unadkat when his side triumphed against Bengal in the Ranji Trophy final to clinch their second title in three seasons. Unadkat hailed former Indian pacer Irfan Pathan as an inspirational figure in his career after receiving a congratulatory message from the ex-cricketer.

Jaydev Unadkat was released from the Indian squad for the final of the Ranji Trophy, and the Saurashtra skipper contributed handsomely in the title bout against Bengal. The left-arm pacer scalped three wickets in the first innings and followed it with a six-for in the second innings to help his side to a comfortable victory.

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan congratulated Unadkat for his second Ranji Trophy title via his Twitter handle, writing, "Congratulations Saurashtra cricket for being consistent in Ranji trophy for last few years and winning the trophy again. Well done Jaydev Unadkat."

The Saurashtra skipper replied to the ex-Indian cricketer, hailing him as an inspirational figure. The 31-year-old wrote, "Thank you, Irfan bhai! Like I always say, thank you for being an inspiration all through the journey."

Jaydev Unadkat could make his first ODI appearance for India after nine years

Unadkat, who has guided Saurashtra to two Ranji Trophy titles and a Vijay Hazare Trophy, has been rewarded for his efforts as he was retained for India's final two Tests against Australia. The left-arm pacer was also included in the squad for the ODI series, which will commence after the conclusion of the Test series.

The veteran cricketer made his much-awaited return to the Test side during the Bangladesh tour at the fag end of last year and could be making his first ODI appearance for India next month after a lengthy hiatus of nine years.
