Widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, Roger Federer left quite a legacy behind him. Hanging up his boots at the 2022 Laver Cup, and ever since his retirement, Federer’s association with tennis has been quite scarce.
Recently, a clip of Federer was shared where the 42-year-old was seen practicing his forehands and backhands against a wall. As the fans were left awestruck, former South Africa cricketer AB de Villiers was among them as well. Seeing the clip on X (formerly known as Twitter), AB de Villiers replied to the clip and branded Federer as the greatest opponent a tennis player can go up against.
“The best opponent you’ll ever play against!” De Villiers tweeted.

Let the rest play bazball: De Villiers
Ab de Villiers is quite active on social media, often giving his take on the various matters going on in world cricket. Speaking of the same, India and England are facing off in the fourth Test of their ongoing five-game series. Batting first, England got off to a flying start to the game as they put forth a magnificent performance. Ace batter Joe Root stole the show for the visitors in Ranchi. Staying unbeaten on a score of 106 runs in 226 deliveries, Root finished Day 1, propelling England to a total of 302 runs.
This is the Joe Root mode that win you Test matches! Glue mode. Let the rest play Bazz Ball.

Good start from India. Good fight from Eng. Setting up for a good Test match
Seeing his performance, AB de Villiers took to X to laud Root’s performance. The former batter opined that the rest of the English team can play Bazball but Root should stick to his ground and play patiently.
“This is the Joe Root mode that win you Test matches! Glue mode. Let the rest play BazBall. Good start from India. Good fight from Eng. Setting up for a good Test match,” De Villiers tweeted.
