In a heartfelt message shared on his social media accounts, Manoj Tiwary, the veteran Indian cricketer from Bengal, has decided to bid adieu to all formats of cricket. Tiwary expressed gratitude to his fans and remembered about his journey in the sport.

Tiwary's decision to retire comes after a long and illustrious career that spanned over a decade. Before this final farewell, the cricketer had previously announced his retirement last year and reversed the decision shortly after. In a candid press conference held at the Eden Gardens, Tiwary admitted to the impulsive nature of his initial decision and apologised to his fans, family, and teammates for any disappointment caused.

In a press conference held last year at the Media Center of Eden Gardens, Manoj said, “The decision taken by me was a sudden one. I was selfish in taking this decision as this might have hurt my family, teammates and fans."

In his recent social media post, Tiwary expressed a mix of nostalgia and gratitude, referring to the cricket pitch as his beloved 22 yards. He thanked his supporters for their love and encouragement throughout his career. Tiwary also extended an invitation to his fans to come and witness the ongoing clash between Bengal and Bihar at Eden Gardens to witness his last innings.

Tiwary posted, "Hi all, So... It's time for the one last dance! Possibly one last time for a long walk towards my beloved 22 yards. I will miss every bit of it! 🏏 Thanks for cheering and loving me all these years. Would be loving it if you all come down to my favourite #EdenGardens today and tomorrow to cheer for Bengal. 🫡🙌 - A loyal servant of cricket, your Manoj Tiwary  ❤️."

Tiwary's cricketing career has been characterised by both triumphs and challenges. Despite receiving limited opportunities at the international level, his contributions to Bengal cricket have been immense. He has scored over 10,000 runs in First-Class cricket at an impressive average of nearly 48, including 30 centuries and 45 fifties. Under his leadership, Bengal reached the finals of the Ranji Trophy in the 2022-23 season.

Manoj Tiwary has represented several teams in the Indian Premier League, including Kolkata Knight Riders, Rising Pune Supergiant, Delhi Capitals (previously Delhi Daredevils), and Punjab Kings. Tiwary currently serves as the Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports in the government of West Bengal.
