Less than 24 hours before the start of the 2023 ODI World Cup final between India and Australia at the colossal Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, skipper Rohit Sharma attended the pre-match press conference.
The Mumbai batter is known for his light-hearted anecdotes during press conferences. He didn't disappoint in Ahmedabad as he silenced the presenter with a hilarious statement.
As Rohit arrived for the press conference, the presenter said: "Guys, we've Rohit Sharma with us." Hearing this, the 36-year-old stated: "Arre stop this man, everyone knows this. Start the Press Conference."

Rohit was in no mood to waste time on introductions. His comment also shows that he is in a relaxed frame of mind ahead of what could be called the biggest game in his illustrious career. It has been a fruitful campaign for Rohit as he has scored 550 runs with the bat in ten games at an average of 55 and a strike rate of 124.15. His aggressive mindset has rubbed off on the team as the 'Men in Blue' have won all 10 matches they have played in the campaign thus far.
Can India finally end the ICC trophy drought?
After MS Dhoni-led a relatively young side to the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 title, India have had to wait rather long for another trophy at an ICC event. They reached the finals of the 2014 T20 World Cup and the 2017 Champions Trophy but came up second best. Luck also didn't change in the red-ball format as India lost the finals of the World Test Championship in 2021 and 2023.
India have also lost four semi-finals in this period. However, all the hearts that broke in the past decade will heal in no time if Rohit and Co. manage to defeat the five-time champions Australia on Sunday. Fans are waiting with bated breath to witness what promises to be a final for the ages.
