Vinod Kambli praises Nidan facilities in viral video from old age home

A video of former India batter Vinod Kambli at a facility called Nidan has gone viral on social media as of September 25, 2026.

In the clip, Kambli speaks directly to the camera, praising the hygiene, cleanliness and overall facilities at the old age home where he is currently staying. The video was shared on X, drawing widespread attention.

"I am Vinod Kambli. I have received a lot of love. And as for all the people who are here, it doesn't feel anywhere here like I am not at home. I would say the hygiene and overall cleanliness is absolutely top-class, and I got really good facilities at Nidan. And where am I? I am at Nidan," said Kambli in the video.

Kambli's health and recovery since late 2024

Kambli, whose full name is Vinod Ganpat Kambli, was born on January 18, 1972, in Mumbai. He represented India in 17 Tests and 104 ODIs, making his Test debut on January 29, 1993, against England and his ODI debut on October 18, 1991, against Pakistan. His final Test appearance came on November 8, 1995, against New Zealand, and his last ODI on October 29, 2000, against Sri Lanka.

In late 2024, Kambli was admitted to Akriti Hospital in Thane district after suffering a urinary infection, muscle cramps and brain clots. A separate video from that period showed him dancing to "Chak De India" inside his hospital room during his recovery. He had reported clots in his brain and spent several weeks under medical care.

Following his discharge, Kambli made a gradual return to public life in 2026. He attended an IPL 2026 match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium, walking with assistance. He also appeared in a television commercial for Dinshaw's ice-cream brand as part of their 'Dildaari' campaign.

Financial support and public appearances in 2026

On the financial side, Kambli has been receiving a BCCI pension of Rs 30,000 per month. Former India opener Sunil Gavaskar additionally announced a pension of Rs 30,000 from the Champs Foundation to support Kambli and his family, which includes his second wife Andrea and their two children.

Childhood friend and former India captain Sachin Tendulkar, along with other former cricketers, has remained in regular contact with Kambli's inner circle to keep track of his health and well-being. Kambli and Tendulkar both trained under coach Ramakant Achrekar at Shardashram Vidyamandir in Mumbai during their schooling years.

The Nidan video marks one of Kambli's most direct public statements about his current living situation since his health difficulties began in late 2024.
