Former India captain Virat Kohli will be seen in action soon when India take on Australia in the four-match Test series of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, starting February 9, 2023. Ahead of the all-important series, Kohli paid a visit to PM Narendra Modi's Guru, Dayanand Giri's Ashram in Rishikesh alongside wife Anushka Sharma and sought blessings before starting his preparations for the Tests.

Kohli was last seen playing the ODI series against New Zealand, where India defeated the visitors by 3-0 to claim a thumping victory. A majority of senior players were then rested for the T20I series as Hardik Pandya was given the responsibility to lead the side. Kohli and Anushka, meanwhile, organized a ‘Bhandara’ during their visit to the Ashram in Rishikesh for the Saints and Sadhus and also offered them food.

Virat Kohli gears up for Australia series

Earlier this month, before the home ODI series against Sri Lanka, Kohli and Anushka along with their daughter Vamika took a trip to Vrindavan and visited Baba Neem Karoli Ashram in Uttarakhand. They also gave away blankets and woolen clothes to needy people and spent a good amount of time at the Ashram.

Kohli joined the Indian ODI side after returning from the trip, and was at his best during the series as he finished as the top run scorer with 283 runs from three games. While the 34-year-old notched up a century in the first ODI, scoring 113 runs off 117 deliveries, he put up an even better performance in the third ODI in Thiruvananthapuram and notched up an unbeaten 166 off 173 deliveries, his 46th century in the format.

The stalwart was in good form against Sri Lanka, but could not replicate the same against New Zealand as he registered figures of 8, 11, and 36 in the three games at Hyderabad, Raipur, and Indore respectively. The Indian side is currently focused on the upcoming Test series against Australia, the result of which will decide India’s fate for the World Test Championship final.
