Team India all-rounder Washington Sundar has confirmed that his Twitter account has been restored after it was hacked a few days ago. On June 5, Sundar's Twitter account had several cryptic tweets about cryptocurrency.

This is not the first instance of a cricket-related social media account being hacked. The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)'s Twitter account was hacked twice, initially in September 2021 and then in January this year. Meanwhile, a Bitcoin scammer had hacked India all-rounder Krunal Pandya's account in 2022.

On June 10, Saturday, Sundar took to Twitter and posted an apology confirming that his account had been hacked. The 23-year-old also claimed that the tweets made from his account in the last few days were not made by him. He went on to say that the problem had been resolved and that he had taken the necessary precautions to secure his account.

"Hey Guys, I want to clear that the last few tweets were NOT made by me as I am NOT associated with any of the content that was posted on my Twitter handle. The issue has been resolved now and I have undertaken the necessary precautions to secure my account. My sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused. Thank you for your understanding and continuous support!," Sundar's Twitter post read.

The India all-rounder is currently recovering from a hamstring injury he suffered during the 16th edition of the IPL, which forced him to miss many games for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The Tamil Nadu-born player only played seven matches for the 2016 IPL champions and took three wickets at an average of 48.67 and an economy of 8.26.

With the bat, he scored 60 runs in seven matches, with an average of 15.00 and a strike rate of 100.00. He had also suffered an injury during the previous IPL season - split webbing in his bowling hand.
