[Watch] Fatima Sana's fiery send-off to Shafali Verma irks commentator Vivek Razdan in Women's Asia Cup 2026

A send-off gesture by Pakistan pacer Fatima Sana became the talking point of the India versus Pakistan Women's T20 Asia Cup 2026 match at Dubai International Stadium on September 5, 2026. After taking a return catch to dismiss Shafali Verma, Sana pointed towards the pavilion as Shafali walked off without reacting. The moment drew an immediate on-air response from commentator Vivek Razdan during the live broadcast.

The dismissal came on the second over of India's chase. Shafali had already hit Sadia Iqbal for a six in the first over and then struck Sana for a boundary on the second ball of that same over. On the very next delivery, a good-length ball produced a leading edge as Shafali attempted to work it to the leg side, and Sana held the return catch comfortably. Shafali's innings ended at 12 runs off 6 deliveries, including one four and one six.

Razdan did not hold back after witnessing the send-off as he slammed the Pakistan captain for his actions despite her team being bowled out for just 55 runs in the first innings.

"Okay, you are showing her the way out. Your entire team just scored 55 runs, and now you're sending Shafali Verma back," said Razdan on air.

Pakistan's batting collapse sets up Razdan's on-air rebuke

Pakistan had made a promising start, reaching 27/0, before their innings fell apart against India's spin attack. They were eventually bowled out for 55 in 18.1 overs, their lowest-ever total in Women's T20I cricket. India's bowlers delivered 78 dot balls during the innings, and Pakistan lost their final 10 wickets for just 28 runs. Shree Charani, the 22-year-old left-arm orthodox spinner, took 3 wickets for 7 runs from 4 overs. Prema Rawat, a 24-year-old leg-spinner, returned figures of 3 for 9 from 4 overs. Deepti Sharma claimed 2 for 5 from 3.1 overs, while Shafali herself contributed 1 for 10 from 3 overs.

Sana did make an impression with the ball in India's chase, removing Smriti Mandhana for 9, Pratika Rawal for 4 and Shafali for 12 to reduce India to 29 for 3. However, Harmanpreet Kaur, unbeaten on 18, and Deepti Sharma, unbeaten on 12, guided India to 57 for 3 in 8.4 overs. Harmanpreet sealed the win with a six down the ground, giving India a seven-wicket victory with 68 balls to spare.
