The third T20I between India and Sri Lanka, a dead rubber as India entered the contest with series in their bag, turned out to be a thriller. Sri Lanka stumbled in plenty but managed to go past all the hurdles and only needed nine runs in 12 balls despite a third collapse in as many games. With Mohammed Siraj and Khaleel Ahmed left with one over each, Suryakumar Yadav handed the ball to Rinku Singh to bowl the penultimate over. He struck on the second delivery as head coach Gautam Gambhir exuded a delightful smile.

Sri Lanka had six wickets in hand before well-set Kusal Perera fell to Rinkus’s spin. The southpaw later sent Ramesh Mendis on the final ball conceding just three runs in the penultimate over. Gambhir, who was in the dugout, seemed to enjoy the contest the youngster had put up with the ball.

Here’s the video of Gambhir’s reaction:

I have seen such kind of games: Suryakumar

As Rinku conceded just three runs in the 19th over, the Indian team twisted the tale with six needed from the last over as Suryakumar braced to roll his arm over. The India captain made Kamindu Mendis hole out to third man on the second ball and then picked Maheesh Theekshana on the subsequent delivery. He missed the hat trick as Asitha Fernando defended the fourth ball. Eventually the game went into a Super Over, where the Lankan Lions managed just two runs thanks to Washington Sundar's double strikes. India chased the three-run target to clean sweep the Lankans in their den.

“When we were going in during fielding session I told them, 'I have seen such kind of games. If we put our heart in for one and a half hours, we can pull it off.' If you are enjoying hitting 200-220s and winning games, you should enjoy 30/4 and 70/5 as well because that creates balance in your life and that's how you move on and just be humble,” said Suryakumar after the game.
