Dinesh Karthik took the collective breath of Wankhede Stadium away with his swashbuckling knock. The 38-year-old Royal Challengers Bengaluru star scored an unbeaten 53 off just 23 balls to help his side post a huge total of 196 on the board.

Rohit Sharma who is very good friends with Dinesh Karthik was seen engaging in a friendly banter that had the crowd engaged. The incident happened when the keeper-batter used the reverse scoop shot to hit Akash Madhwal for boundaries in the penultimate over. 

Four boundaries were hit with the same shot, prompting Rohit to have a funny looking animated conversations. It seemed as if Rohit Sharma was asking the veteran RCB star how he kept hitting such unconventional shots with ease.

As heard live, the Nagpur-born said, “Shabas DK, World Cup Khelna Hain Abhi (Fantastic, DK. You have to play the World Cup).”

Mumbai Indians made a quick comeback into the contest as Jasprit Bumrah got the wickets of Mahipal Lomror a ball later. The fourth ball of the 19th over saw Saurav Chauhan fall to Bumrah for 9. The next ball, Vijaykumar Vyshak became the fifth wicket for Bumrah to record his 2nd IPL fifer.  

Dinesh Karthik took charge in the last over of the innings as 19 runs came off it with 2 sixes. Akash Madhwal was carted all over the park as the 30-year-old pacer conceded 57 runs from his 4 overs. The target for Mumbai Indians was a huge 197 runs from 20 overs to win their second game of the IPL 2024 season.
