This series marks a significant return for both Kohli and Rohit to ODI cricket after their last appearance in November 2023, and coming after India's triumph in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Virat Kohli has smashed 10 centuries against Sri Lanka in ODIs
Kohli's presence in Sri Lanka carries significant weight, given his impressive record against the host nation in ODIs. With 2,594 runs in 53 matches at a remarkable average of 63.26, including 10 centuries and 12 fifties, he stands second only to the legendary Sachin Tendulkar in runs scored against Sri Lanka in this format.
The upcoming series is pivotal for both Kohli and Rohit as they aim to re-establish their rhythm in the 50-over format. Their participation had been subject to speculation, but their inclusion in the 15-member squad has put those doubts to rest. This series also will witness their first ODI appearance since announcing their retirement from T20 internationals.
