A captivating moment unfolded as Brisbane Heat's opener Grace Harris showcased her remarkable prowess by dispatching a six with a fractured cricket bat during their WBBL clash with the Perth Scorchers at North Sydney Oval. This extraordinary event transpired on the second delivery of the 14th over, with Piepa Cleary delivering the ball.

What added to the intrigue was Harris's uncanny ability to anticipate the outcome even before the ball left the bowler's hand. In a jovial exchange, she humorously remarked that she might be in the market for a new cricket bat, alluding to a perceived handle damage. However, she swiftly followed up with a confident assertion that a broken bat would not deter her from sending the ball flying.

As fate would have it, the bolwer Cleary then delivered a fuller-length ball, demanding precision from the bat's sweet spot. Harris responded in style, smashing the ball long and high, causing her bat to splinter into fragments while the ball sailed over the boundary rope. Subsequently, the cameras captured the 30-year-old clutching only the handle of her bat, leaving the commentators thoroughly entertained by the sheer power.

Grace Harris delivers a timely knock in the WBBL 2023

Harris, the Brisbane Heat opener, served as a striking testament to her abilities, delivering the most exceptional individual performance in Women's Big Bash League history. Her resounding unbeaten 136 off just 59 balls, after being omitted from the recent T20I series, took the Heat to a formidable 7-229 at North Sydney Oval on Sunday in a timely demonstration of her prowess, leaving national selectors with much to ponder.

The Brisbane Heat's total of 229 stood as the second-highest in WBBL history. The right handed batter's extraordinary innings featured an impressive 12 fours and a record-breaking 11 sixes, taking her only 48 deliveries to reach a century. This marked her third WBBL century, making her just the third player to achieve this milestone, joining the elite ranks of Alyssa Healy and Sophie Devine, both hailing from the Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers respectively.
