In a historic triumph, Bangladesh secured their maiden Under-19 Asia Cup title by overpowering UAE with a commanding 195-run victory. Notably, the Tiger's path to victory involved triumphant battles against formidable opponents such as Sri Lanka, India, UAE, and Japan. Subsequently, Wasim Jaffer was elated as the young guns were through with the title and conveyed a heartfelt message to the boys he trained.
The former Indian cricketer, who is serving as the batting consultant for the Bangladesh U-19 team since 2022, expressed elation following the team's spectacular win. Jaffer, renowned for his impactful stint in Indian cricket as Test specialist, joined Bangladesh's coaching ranks on a contract of providing two years of service to the budding Bangladeshi talents and left an evident mark on the team's performance.

The former India opener, with 31 Tests and 2 ODIs, notched 1944 runs in Tests at an average of 34.10, including five centuries. He has contributed significantly as Orissa's head coach last season and served as Punjab Kings' batting coach from 2019 to 2021. With a colossal domestic record of 19,410 runs in 260 First-Class matches featuring 57 centuries, Jaffer's cricketing expertise remains exemplary.
Bangladesh's dream journey to clinch U-19 Asia Cup title
The victorious Bangladesh U-19 team, led by Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby, showcased an impeccable record by triumphing in all three group-stage encounters. Their pinnacle moment arrived in the semi-finals against India, where they showcased exceptional bowling to restrict India to a total of 188, followed by a disciplined batting display that sealed the crucial victory.
In the title clash against UAE, Bangladesh's dominance was on full display. Ashiqur Rahman's splendid knock of 129 runs, complemented by Mohammad Rizwan's 60 and Ariful Islam's fiery 50, propelled Bangladesh to a formidable total of 282 runs. The Bangladeshi bowlers maintained their stronghold as UAE struggled to gather momentum in their chase.
