Star English batter, Jonny Bairstow, came forward to announce the birth of his first child. Recently, the 33-year-old wicketkeeper took part in England’s sole Test match against Ireland, which was played on June 1. He regained his place in the squad after a long hiatus due to a broken leg. However, he did not get to feature with the bat in the one-off Test against Ireland due to the top-order’s brilliance.

However, it seems that Bairstow is doing quite well both on and off the pitch. Taking to his Instagram story, Bairstow revealed that his girlfriend has given birth to his first child. He took to Instagram to share a picture of him pushing a stroller in a park.

"Delighted to share with you that my girlfriend and I have welcomed Edward Bairstow into the world! What an amazing time ahead! They are both doing brilliantly," Bairstow wrote on his Instagram.

England take on Australia in the Ashes from June 16

The English team kicked off their summer by taking on the Andrew Balbirnie-led Ireland in preparation for the upcoming Ashes series. Hosting the Ashes, Ben Stokes-led England would be keen on replicating a similar performance against Australia as Ireland.

Through a magnificent display with both the bat and the ball, England defeated Ireland by 10 wickets, as Ollie Pope, Ben Duckett, and Josh Tongue were the stars of the game. Kicking off their preparations brilliantly, the side would go into the clash against Australia brimming with confidence and would look to claim the iconic urn from the Pat Cummins-led side.

On the other hand, Australia would be coming into the game following their clash against the Indian team in the World Test Championship final (WTC) 2023. It promises to be a thrilling series between England and Australia, as the hosts have not claimed the Ashes since 2015. However, their recent form under Ben Stokes and the stylish ‘bazball’ cricket could prove to be the driving factor that leads them to a win against Australia.
