‘What is wrong in what he did?’ - Kris Srikkanth slams Virat Kohli critics after he scores 48th ODI ton

The Indian team continued their brilliant run of form at the ODI World Cup 2023 as they won their fourth consecutive game at the prestigious tournament, defeating Bangladesh in the 17th match in Pune on Thursday, October 19.

As the game progressed, one of the biggest highlights was ace batter Virat Kohli scoring a century and reaching yet another milestone. The 34-year-old scored 103* runs in 97 deliveries and helped India win the game by seven wickets.

However, as Kohli approached his century, he denied many singles and kept the strike, which helped him score a ton. The same attracted some criticism from the fans and critics, and amidst all the criticism, former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth took centre stage and defended the 34-year-old. 

Taking to X, Srikkanth wrote, “What is wrong in what virat did? I question ppl who don't understand cricket,note it is a huge deal to score A century in a world cup, @imVkohli deserves this & much more! kudos to a team man like @klrahul who deserved it against Aus in Chennai ! Enjoy when u still can #INDvsBAN.”

Talking of the game, the clash began with Bangladesh coming in to bat first and putting in a brilliant performance in the start. Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das scored 51 and 66 runs, respectively. Furthermore, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah added 38 and 46 runs to the board, respectively as Bangladesh posted a total of 256 runs on the board. 

As for India, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja were the highest wicket takers, taking two wickets each. Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket each as well. Chasing the target down, India got off to a good start as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scored 48 and 53 runs, respectively. Furthermore, ace batter Virat Kohli finished the game by scoring 103 runs in 97 deliveries as India won the game by seven wickets.
