West Indies cricket is going through massive turbulence at the moment. They failed to qualify for the T20 World Cup last year and in 2023, they missed out on featuring in the ODI World Cup for the first time in their history. Hence, the two-time world champions are desperate to do well and start a process in order to earn a direct qualification for the 2027 edition of the marquee competition.

The first step towards that goal is a three-match ODI series against England, which is slated to begin on December 3. Shai Hope has been named as the captain while Alzarri Joseph has been named the vice-captain. However, despite being in remarkable form in the Super50 tournament, Darren Bravo failed to make the cut. He has scored 416 runs in eight matches but yet, the selectors have overlooked the 34-year-old, even in the absence of Jason Holder and Nicholas Pooran.

Following the exclusion of Darren Bravo, his brother Dwayne took to social media and lashed out at Cricket West Indies. The elder brother called out selector Desmond Haynes and stated that Darren’s exclusion was not acceptable and asked him to be fair with the selection criteria. The legendary cricketer also added that he expected better things from the new authority but believes that the system has failed yet again.

“When will the BS stop?! ?? I'm not surprised by my brother's non-selection, but with the recent changes in WI cricket management, I held onto a bit of hope for the better. This is NOT acceptable, and I just can't make sense of it! So here are my burning questions: What are the criteria for West Indies team selection? Surely, it can't be solely based on performance?” Dwayne Bravo wrote in an Instagram post.

I hoped for trust in the system with figures like you, Sammy: Dwayne Bravo

Furthermore, Dwyane Bravo took shots at the former World champion skipper of West Indies and current head coach, Darren Sammy. Bravo in his message expressed his disappointment with Sammy by saying that having seen a lot of of ups and downs himself, the former pacer hoped for a fair system while selecting the team and the coach should have been a prime example of trust factor. However, the way selection has been conducted depicts the failure of how a team should function.

"My brother showcased exceptional talent, becoming the leading run-scorer in the latest tournament with over 400 runs, a batting average of 83.2, and an SR of 92. I usually stay away from these discussions, but the mistreatment, disrespect, and dishonesty towards players over the years demand a voice. When will it stop? When will this BS actually stop? I hoped for trust in the system with figures like you, Sammy, and the new director of cricket, but the system failed again,” he further added.
